LASHONE LINKS GROUP, NDE PARTNERS ON UNEMPLOYMENT


Lashone links Business School has partnered with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on unemployment as the nation tries to find a lasting solution to the problem.
In his address to the gathering at the opening ceremony at the state secretariat in Yaba, Lagos, the executive chairman of Lashone Links Group of Companies, Dr. Lanre Shonekan lamented the unemployment problem in the nation’s polity. He told the gathering that as part of the cooperate social responsibility initiative of his company; he was willing to join hands with other stakeholders in the nation's economy aside from the NDE to help proffer solutions to the problems. He explained to the gathering at the skill acquisition and internship workshop been sponsored by Lashone Links Group of Companies.
Shonekan speaks “when the state coordinator of the NDE was speaking I was able to see the enormity of the challenges we have in our society. If I have my way I will want everybody here today to get something doing, I have had this passion right from when I was in school as I had programmed my thoughts to see myself as an entrepreneur." "We will continue to develop this project; we will not allow the government alone to face the issues with jobs in Nigeria."
In his submission at the event, the state representative of the NDE, Mr. Joseph Mordi affirmed that the issue of unemployment was a serious one. He recalled that in the 1970's, people usually had jobs waiting for them even when they are yet to graduate. He argued that the job crises became a national problem when government at all level had to increase their investments in various sectors of the Nigerian economy. He noted that it was the above mentioned sore point in Nigeria that eventually snowballed into the nation establishing the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
Mordi speaks "From 5 Universities in the early 70's, we now have over 100 of them churning out graduates who will heed to be employed." "When a firm like Lashone Links Business School came to us, we literally welcomed them as unemployment has to be jointly fought for."
The Dean of Lashone Links Business School, Dr. Bayo Oladipo pleaded with participants at the Opening day of the 5day skill acquisition workshop to take the program very seriously as it can go a long way to determine the success or failure of an aspiring entrepreneur. He stated that participants will be trained in diverse vocations which includes; costume and make-up, fashion designing, footwear making, photography, beads and accessories.
